STARKVILLE, Miss. ā€”Theatre 91“«Ć½ is debuting a new ā€œStudio Maroonā€ series Thursday-Saturday [Feb. 14-16] with 7:30 p.m. performances of ā€œ27 Wagons Full of Cottonā€ and ā€œAuthorā€™s Voiceā€ in Mississippi Stateā€™s McComas Hall main stage theater.

General admission tickets are $7 and can be purchased in advance at or at the door prior to each performance.Ā 

Cody Stockstill, assistant professor and theatre concentration coordinator in the College of Arts and Sciencesā€™ Department of Communication, said Studio Maroon gives students hands-on experience to oversee all aspects of theatre performances, including design, directing and production.

ā€œNot only are our students providing an eveningā€™s entertainment, but also audiences have the chance to see the studentsā€™ work as developing theatre artists,ā€ Stockstill said.

A classic Tennessee Williams one-act play set in the 1930ā€™s Mississippi Delta, ā€œ27 Wagons Full of Cottonā€ follows three individuals as they deal with chaos suddenly thrown into their lives. Written in 1946, the play premiered on Broadway in 1955.Ā 

Richard Greenbergā€™s ā€œThe Authorā€™s Voiceā€ is a modern comedy revolving around an up-and-coming author and the gnome he keeps captive to serve as his ghostwriter. Reminiscent of Cyrano de Bergerac, ā€œThe Authorā€™s Voiceā€ originally was written in 1987.
